Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy Simulator for Varicose Veins
The Ultrasound Sclerotherapy Simulator enables students to acquire the preclinical skills for ultrasound guided microfoam sclerotherapy to treat varicose veins in a cost-efficient way. Angiologists, phlebotomists and vascular surgeons can now easily practice using haptic response technology to develop their skills while using a simulator with realistic soft-tissue and life-like vena saphena.
Training with this simulator enables students to:
Correctly react to the haptic response properties of human soft tissue while performing palpations and giving injections
Become familiar with the echogenicity during ultrasound examinations due to the simulators realistic tissue texture
Improve hand-eye coordination
Gain confidence and experience required to successfully perform ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy on patients
The prototype of this simulator was successfully publicly tested for the first time during the scientific session of the 16TH INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OF THE INTERNATIONAL UNION OF PHLEBOLOGY in Monaco from 31st August to 4th September 2009 and won great approval among the professional audience.
