Resonance Apparatus
• Compact form• No moving reservoir
• Easy to use
• Less mess
• More precise control
A great improvement over the traditional form, this new air column resonance apparatus dispenses with the cumbersome moving reservoir that students find difficult to control and messy to fill and empty. Instead, the water
level in the column is adjusted by air pressure in a fixed, closed reservoir, using a pipette filler with a three-way valve
system. This gives students precise control of the water level, which is a great advantage when exploring resonance
maxima. An extruded support holds the water column firmly in place and carries a built-in scale and level marker for convenient column length measurements. The column length of 120 cm allows at least three resonance maxima to be observed with a 256Hz excitation frequency, and more if higher frequencies are used. The apparatus is supplied with
an easily adjustable tuning fork bracket. An optional probe bracket allows a microphone to be positioned close to the
tube mouth for measurements using probeware.
